BRENDAN CASEY / INDEPENDENT VEHICLE ENGINEERING & FABRICATION
ONE ENGINEER · ONE POINT OF CONTACT

Where Ideas Take Shape-Form-Life.

Prototype vehicle builds, steel fabrication and systems engineering for vehicles that don't officially exist yet. Stitched together from the right parts, the right people, and thirty years of hands-on experience — from the first idea to a finished, functioning vehicle.

The idea behind Frankenstein Cars

The right parts. The right people. One experienced hand.

Frankenstein Cars is Brendan Casey working directly with the client — not a large organisation, not layers of account management. The service brings together three decades of hands-on vehicle engineering, fabrication and prototype delivery, with trusted specialist support brought in only when a project needs it.

Prototype and one-off vehicles often combine components, materials and skills from different sources. The job is to make those pieces work together properly: practical design decisions, sound fabrication, careful integration and a clear route from idea to finished vehicle.

The philosophy
Design meets reality.

At Frankenstein Cars, prototyping isn't about following a recipe. It's about taking an idea that doesn't exist yet — a sketch, a concept, a problem, an unlikely combination of components — and turning it into something real.

Cut it. Shape it. Modify it.
Build it. Break it. Improve it.
Then build it again.
01

From idea to something real

The best prototypes rarely arrive fully formed. They evolve. A component doesn't fit. A structure needs changing. The geometry isn't right. The first solution creates another problem. That's where the real work begins.

Frankenstein Cars brings together years of practical vehicle-building experience with a trusted network of specialist engineers, designers, fabricators and suppliers — assembling the right people and skills around each project when they're needed. One project. One problem. One solution at a time.

02

Built, not just imagined

There is a difference between describing how something could work and actually making it work. I work at the point where concepts meet reality. Where drawings become structures. Where ideas become mechanisms. Where components become systems. Where a collection of parts becomes a vehicle.

This is hands-on prototyping — fabrication, integration, problem solving and development carried out with the realities of the finished vehicle always in mind.

03

The Frankenstein approach

Take the unexpected. Combine the incompatible. Re-engineer what already exists. Build what doesn't. Frankenstein Cars is about creating vehicles and solutions that have no off-the-shelf answer.

Not mass production. Not a corporate design exercise. Just experience, fabrication, engineering knowledge and the determination to make the thing work.

04

If it doesn't exist...

Build it. If you have a vehicle concept that needs bringing into the physical world, a prototype that needs developing, or a complex build that needs someone who understands how all the pieces have to come together —

let's create something that shouldn't exist.

Prototyping · Fabrication · Vehicle Builds

Frankenstein Cars

Ideas are easy.

Making them real is the hard part.

What I do

Prototype. Fabricate. Build.

01 / Prototype

Vehicle Prototyping

Turning concepts, sketches and early ideas into workable vehicle packages, with practical decisions made around chassis, materials, packaging and buildability.

02 / Fabrication

Steel Fabrication

Chassis, brackets, jigs, patterns and structural weldments. MIG, TIG and stick welding to a proper standard, built to hold up in service.

03 / Management

Project Management

Providing a Framework to build on.

04 / Systems

Systems Engineering

Driveline, electrical and control system integration — making sure everything fitted to the vehicle actually works together, not just alongside each other.

05 / Build

Vehicle Builds

Combining donor components, driveline, electrical systems, interiors and bodywork into one coherent, functional vehicle.

06 / Support

Vehicle Support

Fault-finding, repair and ongoing support for existing prototype and specialist vehicles — keeping them running, not just building them.

07 / Rescue

Stalled Projects

Stepping into an existing build to identify what is holding it back, resolve practical problems and establish a route to completion.

Experience that matters

Thirty years of making difficult vehicles happen.

Frankenstein Cars is built around Brendan Casey's career across UK defence and automotive work — from Master Vehicle Technician through senior field-service responsibilities and prototype delivery for major engineering organisations.

The result is a practical understanding of vehicles that goes beyond drawings: how things are actually fabricated, assembled, modified, tested, repaired and made to work in the real world.

How a project works

Simple process. Serious build.

01 / Brief

Understand it

Define what you are trying to build, the constraints and what a successful result looks like.

02 / Plan

Work it out

Establish the vehicle architecture, parts, fabrication requirements and specialist support needed.

03 / Build

Make it real

Fabrication, assembly and integration managed directly, with trusted specialists brought in as required.

04 / Finish

Make it work

Resolve snags, complete the build and hand over a vehicle that has been properly considered from end to end.

Selected project history

Built. Modified. Fabricated.

A selection of vehicles and prototype work that illustrates the breadth of experience behind Frankenstein Cars.

Concept to complete

Watch it come together.

The Zephyr SRV, start to finish — raw chassis on the jig through to a finished, running specialist reconnaissance vehicle. No polish, no re-shoots. This is what the build process actually looks like.

  • Driveline & systems integration

About Brendan

One engineer. A trusted network. Fully accountable.

Frankenstein Cars is deliberately small. You deal directly with Brendan Casey from the first conversation through the build. When a project needs additional capability, trusted mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, vehicle designers, fabricators, composites specialists and finishers can be brought into the job.

That gives a client the flexibility of a specialist network without turning the project into a corporate exercise.
